Açık ve Uzaktan Eğitim Fakültesi (AUZEF) operates within Istanbul University and oversees the activities of open education and distance learning programs. Starting from 2009 with distance education and expanding to open education programs in 2011, AUZEF has continuously progressed towards becoming one of the leading digital faculties in Turkey.

As of 2022, AUZEF offers a total of 46 active programs, including 34 open education programs and 12 distance learning programs. Among these, there are 19 undergraduate, 22 associate, and 5 completion programs available.

AUZEF utilizes digital teaching methods to provide all students with the opportunity to receive education at Istanbul University standards independently of time and location. In contrast to traditional educational models, AUZEF eliminates the necessity for students to come to campus. Courses are conducted entirely in a virtual environment through the internet and computer/mobile devices, allowing participants to review them at their convenience.
